Transfer Information for foreign participants
Right to Access Information Commission of Sierra Leone wants participants to carefully note that sea transportation is involved in traveling from the Freetown International Airport to the City of Freetown where the conference is taking place.
Therefore, participants are encouraged to choose a sea transportation option during their online registration to enable the Conference Host (Right to Access Information Commission of Sierra Leone) to prepare better. However, it is must be noted that participants are responsible to cover the sea transportation fare while the Conference Host will handle pickups and transporting of participants to their respective hotels, only if participants’ selected hotels are among those mentioned on the Conference Website.
It is important to note that the Conference Host will only be responsible for pickups from hotels to Conference Venue and vice versa for participants lodging in the designated hotels listed on the Conference Website.
Participants should therefore select hotel and sea transportation means of their choice when completing the registration form available on the conference web site - REGISTRATION FORM.
There are two major safe water transportation means: ferries and water taxis. For the Ferry service which takes about 45 minutes from the airport to Freetown, first class ticket is Le96 (approximately $5) while regular ticket is Le36 (approximately $2) per person. For the water taxi, which takes about 20 minutes from the airport to Freetown, it is $50 per person. Please note that water taxis—big comfortable speed boats by Sea Coach Express and Sea Bird Express are more regular and they operate strictly according to flight schedules.
Please also note that the conference host will provide free transfers from the water taxi terminals in Freetown to the hotels for those participants staying in one of the 11 designated hotels available on the conference web site hence why it is important that all participants must indicate on the registration form which hotel they will book and which sea transport they are taking.
